The dangerous side of summer

Drunk Driving Accidents,Firm News On Monday, June 29, 2015

The summer of 2015 is in full swing now and Connecticut residents are enjoying a lovely time of year. However, the summer months can be filled with dangers for people when they take to the road. The chance of being involved in a drunk driving accident or other serious motor vehicle collision exists and can even be greater during this time of the year compared to other times.

According to Addiction Intervention’s website, the U.S. Department of Transportation notes that Thanksgiving is the only holiday to experience more auto accidents that result in either serious injuries or death than the three summer holidays. Memorial Day, Fourth of July and Labor Day together make the summer months a very serious time for people whether as motorists, passengers or pedestrians.

An article in Forbes echoes the fact that summer is a deadly time on American roads. In fact, it cites that August is actually the most dangerous month of the entire year. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration notes that alcohol and speeding are involved in a high percentage of the country’s fatal traffic accidents. Additionally, a Insurance Institute for Highway Safety spokesperson suggests that driving is the riskiest activity a person can engage in.

Crashes caused by the negligence of others can leave victims with outstanding medical expenses as well as physical, mental and emotional issues to address. With this in mind, it is important for all people in Connecticut to be fully aware of the dangers and take extra care to guard against unnecessary accidents this summer.
