Resident to see new dog law after recent attack

Connecticut residents should be able to enjoy the long, lovely days of summer without worry. Spending time outside in backyards, poolside, at a park or in other locations should not be something that gives rise to concerns about bodily harm. However, when dogs are present, such concerns may well be warranted. This can be especially so if the dogs involved are types known to be aggressive toward people at random times.

Like it or not, there are some breeds of dogs that are more likely to be involved in attacks against humans than other breeds. Pit bulls are one of these breeds but they are certainly not the only dogs that can be the instigators of attacks. One resident in New Haven is looking to actively pursue a ban on breeds like pit bulls within the city limits. It is unknown as to whether or not such a ban will be able to be passed or enforced but he intends to try.

The reason for the effort is a recent incident in which a victim was sent to the hospital in critical condition after a vicious dog attack. The woman was reportedly at the residence where the dogs lived when they mauled her. It is not known for sure if the dogs are pit bulls, American bulldogs or some other breed but they are in custody for the time being.

People in Connecticut should know that they have the right to protect themselves against dangers and to get help when injury results. Talking to an attorney after a dog attack may be a helpful way of learning how to seek compensation for injuries.
