Despite the ever increasing awareness, drunk driving is still a major problem in Connecticut, and throughout the U.S. Driving while under the influence of alcohol, as many readers are likely aware, can lead to serious collisions with ranging consequences, including injury and death. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Association, 290,000 people were injured in alcohol-related crashes in 2012 alone.

According to reports, one man suffered serious injury in a drunk driving accident that occurred in Delaware recently. The man’s vehicle was reportedly hit head on by a car, whose driver was allegedly under the influence. No details were disclosed regarding the specific injuries that the man suffered, or his updated condition. He was taken to the hospital for treatment. The alleged alcohol-impaired driver, as well as a passenger in his vehicle, was also seriously injured.

As a result of the auto accident, the driver believed responsible is facing a number of charges, including fourth offense driving under the influence. The motorist is, according to reports, to be arrested upon his release from the hospital. His blood alcohol content following the alleged drunk driving accident, however, was not disclosed.

When people are injured in car accidents that are caused by drunk drivers, they could be entitled to financial compensation for damages resulting from the crash and their subsequent injury. This could include medical expenses, as well as pain and suffering. Working with an attorney can be one way for people who have experienced a situation such as this to learn more about their rights.
