Connecticut residents face many a danger from drivers every day. Fatigue, distraction and impairment are just some of the things that can lead to serious injury and even fatal accidents. Even without inclement weather conditions to worry about, these things can wreck havoc on area roads in the summer months.
Havoc is exactly the term that could be used to describe a tragic crash that happened on Bridgeport’s Main Street early one recent Sunday morning. The vehicle of a young man in his 20s was struck by another vehicle being driven at a speed potentially up to 100 miles per hour. The young man was killed in the crash. Despite stereotypes that point to younger drivers being reckless and speeding, it was actually a driver approximately 40 years older than the victim who is reported to have caused the accident.
The older man was injured although the extent of his injuries is not known. Reports do not indicate whether or not alcohol or any other factor could also have been at play. There does exist a strong possibility that the at-fault driver will face charges for his role in the death of the younger man.
In situations like this, family members must wrestle with how to come to terms with such a sudden loss of a loved one. Making matters worse is the sheer fact that such a death should have been avoided. Talking to an attorney at a time like this may be a good way to learn what type of compensation may be available.
