Even when pet owners in New Haven use great care, there are situations in which dogs may get free from their homes or yards. In many of these cases, the largest concern is finding the dog and getting them back home. However, in other situations, loose dogs may pose a risk to neighbors, or other animals.

According to reports, a Chicago woman suffered serious injury recently as a result of being viciously attacked by a neighbor’s pit bull. The dog reportedly bit the woman’s arm, causing significant damage. It was reported that she required surgery to treat the dog bite injuries. There were no further details disclosed, however, regarding her updated condition or prognosis for recovery. The woman had reportedly gone out onto her front porch to help her 10-year-old son, who was also attacked by the dog. The boy received stitches to treat a deep wound on his back.

The dog had reportedly escaped from the home of its owner. It remains unknown to the public at this time how the dog was able to escape, or whether the owner was home at the time. Following the dog attack, the animal’s owner reportedly fully cooperated with authorities. It was reported that animal control officers took the dog away, but no further information was detailed regarding the dog’s future or fate.

Dog attacks can be terrifying for those who are involved, and often result in serious injuries. As a result, it is common for people to require medical care, which can be costly. People who have experienced situations such as this may find it of benefit to discuss their case with a legal professional. An attorney may help them understand their rights, as well as their options for seeking financial compensation.
