Early last Monday morning, a fiery crash among four vehicles on Interstate 84 in East Hartford, Connecticut, resulted in the deaths of two people. The accident took place on a bridge, and authorities had some concern that the asphalt may have become damaged due to the heat from the resulting fire. The interstate closed down for several hours to allow law enforcement to conduct its investigation and the Department of Transportation to assess the need for any repairs.

The accident reportedly involved four vehicles: a school bus and four tractor-trailers. Fortunately, there were no children aboard the school bus at the time of the crash. Authorities confirm that two people lost their lives in the crash but have not released any identifying information, even in regard to which vehicles they were driving, pending notification of family members.

Details regarding the crash and its potential causes remain vague. When state law enforcement officers arrived at the scene, the school bus and two of the tractor-trailers were on fire. The driver of one of the tractor-trailers was able to detach the cab after hitting one of the flaming trucks. The crash closed the interstate down for several hours, prompting authorities to advise commuters to choose alternate routes prior to the morning rush.

Apart from the two deaths, there is no report of any injuries associated with the crash. However, if the crash had occurred later in the morning or in the afternoon when there were children aboard the bus, it could have been a much different story. Those who have sustained injuries in a collision with a larger vehicle may find it helpful to consult an attorney.
