6-year-old in medical coma after being attacked by 3 pit bulls

When many people in Connecticut, and elsewhere, think of dogs, they think of a faithful companion or family pet. Although this is true of the majority of dogs who are kept as pets in the U.S., there are some cases in which dogs are the perpetrators in vicious attacks, which can result in serious injuries. Dog bite injuries can often require significant medical treatment, including suturing and surgeries.

It was reported that a six-year-old girl was seriously injured in a dog attack that occurred in Cincinnati recently. According to reports, the girl was playing outside her home when she was attacked by three pit bulls. The dogs purportedly bit the girl’s face repeatedly after she was knocked to the ground. At last report, the young girl remained in intensive care after receiving multiple bites that left her almost unrecognizable. Her tongue was reportedly so badly damaged that doctors had to remove it.

Although she is in stable condition, there is still no certainty that the girl, who is in a medically induced coma, will survive. If she does, she will reportedly have to undergo major facial reconstruction and daily surgeries for a period.

Dog owners have a responsibility to ensure that their pets are properly socialized and secured. If dogs get out and attack someone, the pet owner may be held liable for the injuries. Anyone who has been injured in such an attack may wish to consult with a personal injury attorney to discuss his or her situation in order to ensure that they receive the compensation they deserve.

While the victim in this accident was uninjured, countless others have sustained injuries from getting in the way of fugitives running from the law. Fortunately for these victims, once the suspects are apprehended they may be able to pursue legal action against them, even if a criminal trial is also being held at the same time. Initiating such action can be a very complex process. That’s why those looking to start such a lawsuit may first wish to consult with an attorney who has experience in handling these types of cases.
