Pit bull in quarantine after biting child

Pit bulls have received a lot of negative attention in recent years for widely reported attacks on adults and children both in Connecticut and around the country. Pit bulls include certain breeds of dogs, one of which is the American Pit Bull Terrier. These types of dogs are those that are most commonly used in illegal dog fighting in the country. Because of the pit bull’s history, some areas have set certain restrictions for owning them while others have come right out and banned them.

A pit bull with a history of biting may be euthanized after it bit a little boy recently. The pit bull’s owner admitted that the dog has bitten two other people in the past. Authorities cited the man for having a vicious dog, but did not arrest him. Because he could not provide Animal Welfare authorities with proof of a rabies vaccination, the dog is being kept in quarantine while testing is being performed.

The bite occurred when the child approached the dog outside an apartment complex. The man said he warned the child to stay back, but when the boy came up from behind him, the dog attacked and bit the little boy’s arm. The boy was not seriously injured and is recovering from the dog bite.

The child’s parents may wish to speak with an attorney about this incident. They may be entitled to compensation for the pain and trauma that their little boy went through as a result of this attack. Because the dog owner is in charge of ensuring that his dog acts appropriately, and because he knew that the dog had a history of biting people, he may be found responsible in a civil lawsuit.
