Man loses ear in pit bull attack

Many Connecticut residents enjoy having dogs as their treasured pets and companions. It is well known that some dog breeds are considered more aggressive than others. Additionally, many pet owners and dog advocates indicate that even these dogs can be trained to behave well. Sadly, not all people work with their dogs appropriately to ensure that their inherent aggressive natures are kept in check. This is often the situation in cases where people sustain serious dog bite injuries.

A recent dog attack in New York has left a 62-year-old man in need of multiple surgeries on one arm and with his right ear taken off in addition to receiving a mass of stitches. The pet owner has been arrested and charged with multiple counts of reckless endangerment and assault. She will also undergo a psychiatric evaluation. It is not clear what penalties she may face. A witness reported that this is not the first time that the woman’s two pitbulls have attacked other people or other dogs.

The incident was caught on video and displays how several people came to the aid of the victim. One person who helped also sustained serious injury to his arms and legs. The two dogs reportedly attacked the man as he attempted to greet them on his way to work one day. It took multiple firefighters and police officers to get control of the dogs which have now been taken into custody.

The pain and suffering that an animal attack like this can result in is great. People who have experienced such an incident deserve help with their medical expenses as well as emotional pain. Working with an attorney can be a good way of learning how to get this help.
