New Haven construction zone crash leaves 1 dead, 1 injured

Occasionally, construction is required on or around the roads of Connecticut for further development, maintenance, repairs and any number of other reasons. In order to help ensure the safety of workers, as well as motorists, the speed limit is often lowered through these work zones. This can cause problems, however, if drivers fail to take note of and adjust to the speed reduction.

According to reports, a fatal auto accident involving two tractor trailers and smaller, passenger car reportedly occurred in a construction zone in New Haven recently. One of the semi trucks, it was reported, struck the car from behind. The impact reportedly pushed the car into the rear of the second semi truck, which was travelling in front of it, sandwiching it between the two large vehicles. The car, along with the truck it was behind, both slowed as they passed through the construction area. It was not reported how fast the tractor trailer, believed to have caused the accident, was going at the time of the collision.

One woman, a passenger in the car, reportedly had to be extricated from the vehicle following the collision. She was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the car, a 53-year-old woman, was killed in the wreck. News sources reported that she was pronounced dead at the accident scene.

Motor vehicle accidents can have a range of undue, and unexpected, consequences for people who are injured, as well as the families of people who are killed. If you have experienced a situation such as this, you may benefit from seeking legal counsel. An attorney can explain your rights and help you to understand your options for seeking compensatory damages.
